WSGS Releases Surface Water Resource Map

The WSGS recently published the State water resource map of Wyoming: Stream flows and storage (Map Series 91), a new map highlighting stream flow data and reservoir capacities. Wyoming’s major creeks and rivers are shown on this map with associated stream gages. The gage locations include historic minimum, maximum, and mean flows. All available reservoir and lake storage data is included for large lakes and reservoirs. The background of the map is a colorful digital elevation model and hillshade depicting the elevation and topography of Wyoming. The map includes reference tables for the largest ten lakes and rivers, regional destinations of Wyoming rivers, and a generalized geologic map of the state. The CD includes many extra datasets including all springs in Wyoming, digitized; all streams and lakes; all gages; all draws; and all hydrologic units 2- through 12-digit. All data sets include metadata.

The new map by James E. Stafford and Tomas Gracias is current through 2008 and can be ordered from the Wyoming State Geological Survey sales desk as a color plot at the 1:500,000 scale. The plotted map is $50 and a digital version is available for $120. To purchase this map, please call (307) 766-2286, ext. 224, email sales-wsgs@uwyo.edu, or visit our office in Laramie.
