About Us
The Publications Section edits and produces publications for distribution and sale to the public through the
sales office at the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS). We work closely with the geologists at the WSGS, as well as outside
authors, to develop desirable products that will provide valuable information on Wyoming geology and minerals to the general public,
private industry, government agencies, and universities world-wide. Our publications are available mostly as printed hard copies;
some maps and reports are on CD-ROM; and some may be available for download from this web site.

|
- Bulletins are in-depth technical or non-technical publications on different aspects of Wyoming geology. Some out-
of-print bulletins are available for download from this site or as CD-ROMs.
- Information Pamphlets provide general, non-technical information on an individual topic. These are available in hard
copy or for download from this site.
- Educational Series contain instructional materials for use in schools or other educational purposes.
- Memoirs are comprehensive treatises on various aspects of Wyoming geology, and are mostly of a technical nature.
- Public Information Circulars present general geologic information or contain geologic field guides to Wyoming
localities. These include technical and scientific data, but are written so non-geologists can understand them.
- Reports of Investigations are specialized technical reports on specific localities, mineral deposits, or other
geologic information about Wyoming.
- Reprints are articles or publications that have been previously published by other parties and are now available from
the WSGS.
- Map Series include maps that are reviewed to meet WSGS map publishing standards, and include mineral resource maps such
as industrial minerals, construction materials, coal, coalbed methane, and oil and gas as well as traditional color geologic
maps at various scales.
- Open file reports and section reports are usually not edited and do not meet publishing standards. Some of the more
popular reports and maps are edited and produced for our formal publication series.
- Digital products are a rapidly growing segment of our publications. All of our new maps are available in digital format
as well as some out-of-print publications. These are available on CD-ROM or as a download from this web site.
