Yellowstone Geologic Database
The Wyoming State Geological Survey is proud to announce the completion of the Yellowstone Geologic GIS Database that explores the geological wonders of Yellowstone National Park. This project, funded by the U.S. Geological Survey, includes a never before seen collection of data which is now available in the GIS data center. Other features include an online mapping application that allows users to explore the geology of Yellowstone through a Web browser. The site also includes maps illustrating recent volcanic and geologic events within the park.

The maps within Recent Activities are produced by staff of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory or staff of the WSGS. The maps of recent geologic activity may include major events such as earthquake swarms, earthquakes above magnitude 5, geothermal explosions, or volcanic eruptions. All earthquake activity in Yellowstone, including those under magnitude 5, can be found and mapped via the Interactive Web Map of Yellowstone Geology or the WSGS Earthquake Database IMS.
