With coal production well over 300,000,000 tons each year, Wyoming remains the #1 coal producing state, supplying 31% of the nation's steam coal. Our coal is used in over 130 power plants in 27 states and is exported to Canada and Spain. It is particularly valued for its low ash and sulfur content. Wyoming coal is often blended with high sulfur eastern coal to bring the emissions down to required EPA levels.
