Wyoming oil and gas maps released on CD-ROM

The Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) has released digital data on CD-ROM for five maps of Wyoming's oil and gas fields. These digital datasets complement the hard copy plotted versions of the maps released earlier this fall. All the maps are by Rodney H. De Bruin, Senior Staff Geologist-Oil and Gas, at the WSGS. The maps and digital data include: Map Series (MS) 51, Oil and gas map of the Powder River Basin, Wyoming; MS-52, Oil and gas map of the Greater Green River Basin and Overthrust Belt, Wyoming; MS-53, Oil and gas map of central and northwestern Wyoming basins; MS-54, Oil and gas map of southeastern Wyoming basins; and MS-55, Oil and gas map of Wyoming.

A CD-ROM for each map is available. Map Series 51, 52, 53, and 54 are $20.00 each; Map Series 55 (combining all the above) is $80.00. Hard copies of each map (plotted, color maps, rolled only) are $25.00 each, except for MS-55 which is $30.00.

Each CD-ROM of the oil and gas maps contains: (1) Viewable map in MrSid(r) (requires viewer, which can be installed from the CD-ROM). All or part of the map can be plotted or printed, depending on user's hardware. (2) Viewable map in ESRI's ArcReader(r) (can be installed from the CD-ROM). Individual coverages can be turned off or on by the user; map can be printed or plotted. (3) ESRI Shapefiles and ESRI Personal Geodatabase(r) in ESRI's ArcGIS(r) 8.2 format. (5) Installers for MrSid(r), ESRI's ArcReader(r), Adobe Acrobat(r), and a special geologic symbol font. (6) Readme file and map overview (in HTML and MS Word(r)).
