Current Activities
The Geohydrology Section is compiling a list of references for Wyoming water resources and assembling
a reference library of published and unpublished water resource documents within the section office.
The Geohydrology Section responds to inquiries related to water issues, aquifers, wells, springs, and offers
water resources assistance to private citizens, other government agencies, educators, consultants, and industry.
The Geohydrology Section is currently working on the 3-year Powder River Basin Project funded by the Wyoming Water
Development Commission (WWDC), which includes investigating the water resources of a study area located in northeastern
Wyoming and compiling data on tens of thousands of coalbed methane production wells and other wells located within the project
area. Groundwater modeling of the study area will be conducted in conjunction with the WSGS Modeling and Visualization Section.
