Wyoming State Geological Survey publishes new report on coalbed natural gas

The Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) announces the availability of a new publication, Public Information Circular No. 43 (PIC-43), titled Coalbed natural gas conference: I – Research, monitoring, and applications. This report is the proceedings of a conference on coalbed natural gas that was held at the University of Wyoming in Laramie August 17 through 19, 2004. The University of Wyoming’s Institute of Environment and Natural Resources convened the conference, which attracted 300 attendees from the U.S. and Canada.

The report contains 43 papers presented during the general, topical, and poster sessions of the conference. Jaime R. Stine, former Assistant Editor at the WSGS, edited the report. The papers are generally in “extended abstract” form; most papers are between two and six pages long and contain figures, tables, maps, and references as presented at the conference.

The topical session Surface and groundwater quality and quantity contains 10 papers; the session Well completion, monitoring, and produced water treatment contains 11 papers; the session Water use, soils, and wildlife contains six papers; the session Information management, risk assessment, and legal issues contains eight papers, and the Poster session and General session contain eight papers.

The report is available from the Publications Sales Office at the WSGS in Laramie for $15.00 (Wyoming addresses add 6% sales tax) plus $6.00 for shipping and handling. To order, call 307-766-2286, ext. 224; fax 307-766-2605; or email sales-wsgs@uwyo.edu. For additional information about this publication, contact WSGS Editor in Chief Richard W.
