Rawlins Uplift (Mesozoic Geological Time Period)

Rawlins Uplift (Mesozoic Geological Time Period) Footnotes (52) Footnotes (78) Footnotes (57) Footnotes (58) WSGS geologists Ramsey Bentley and Scott Quillinan on a nearly vertical outcrop of the Almond Formation, the youngest unit of the Mesaverde group. Note that Quillinan, red shirt, is standing on a fault plane (the fault is a result of slumping post uplift and emplacement). The Almond is composed of interlayered, thin sand, shale, and coals representing complex, mixed marine-fluvial-continental deposits. Photo by Fred McLaughlin.
